ALLIANCE HIGH SCHOOL ON LOCKDOWN

Alliance High School has been put on lockdown after rumors of a threat appeared on social media. In wake of the events at Jackson Middle School this morning, police have been dispatched as a precaution.

Alliance City Schools posted this statement on their Facebook page at 1:38pm. “Due to a threat seen on social media specific to AHS we have decided to lock down the school to allow Alliance Police Department time to investigate the situation. As soon as we receive information we will release it. As a safety precaution all other buildings are in shelter in place which means no one is allowed in or out.”

The City of Alliance Police Department posted this statement via Facebook at 1:59pm. “ATTENTION: There are currently rumors that a school shooting is planned for Alliance High School at 2PM. THERE IS CURRENTLY NO CREDIBLE INFORMATION TO SUPPORT THIS THREAT OF A SHOOTING. There is currently a very strong police presence at the schools as a precaution, but again, there is NO credible threat at this time. The school is on lock-down as a precaution.”

UPDATE: Rumors of the threat appear to be false. Alliance City Schools released this statement on their Facebook page at 2:19pm. “The threat on social media has been found to be false. The lockdown has been lifted and students will be released from school at the normal time.”
